1997 Fleer/SkyBox Marvel Premium QFX Promo Card Wolverine
Up for grabs is the Wolverine promo card for 1997 Fleer/SkyBox Marvel Premium QFX. The front features Wolverine in his classic brown and tan costume, crouched and ready to strike with claws extended, set against a real photographic backdrop of a stone building and statue.
The back explains the "Q Equation" behind the set: the Q stands for comic artist Joe Quesada and the FX refers to the photographic backgrounds merged with his artwork. It also previews the full release, including 72 base cards illustrated by Quesada, PhotoGraphix Heroes Reformed and LazerBlast die-cut inserts, and hobby exclusive Autographix cards signed by Joe himself. Quesada would go on to become Marvel's Editor-in-Chief just a few years later, making this an interesting piece of his early card work.
Promo cards were distributed ahead of release to preview the set and are much tougher to find than the base cards. A great pickup for Wolverine collectors, Joe Quesada fans, and 90s Marvel promo card chasers.
