2008 Upper Deck Marvel Masterpieces Series 2 #87 Venom Spider-Man Michael Golden
Spider-Man is swallowed by a writhing mass of fanged Venom symbiotes in this striking piece by Michael Golden, from 2008 Upper Deck Marvel Masterpieces Series 2. Spidey reaches out in desperation as black tendrils, claws, and drooling, tooth-filled mouths close in from every direction, all in Golden’s bold, detailed comic style. The back covers Venom’s first appearance in Amazing Spider-Man #299-300 (1988) and tells how the alien symbiote bonded with Spider-Man on the Beyonder’s Battleworld, was rejected, and found a far more willing host in Eddie Brock, a disgraced reporter whose hatred of Spidey made them a formidable threat.
